When testing for meth, we recommend using a composite wipe sample. This will allow you to test up to four locations with one sampling kit for the least amount of cost. However, it does bring up a certain question. Where are the best locations to sample?

A meth wipe sample area is small, 10cm x 10cm or approximately 4 inches by 4 inches. So, you should choose your locations wisely. We recommend sampling areas that are the most likely to show significant contamination, as this will help you rule out the possibility of meth in your home.

These areas include the inside of the furnace, heat vents, and/or cold air returns. Consider testing near kitchen and bathroom exhaust fans, ceiling fan blades, or anywhere where air or smoke is drawn. The furnace often shows the highest levels of contamination, as well, and is the best place to test if the property has been recently painted.

If the property has more than one level, we suggest using one test kit per level, and another for the air handling system. (It is not uncommon for a property to show levels ranging from non-detectable to well over the state limit when all rooms are tested.) Some states will require that you test each room individually, though, so check with your local authorities.
